Shimmy is a belly dance exercise shown on FitTV. I don't know why it qualifies as a fitness program when it is clearly a dance instruction show. Belly dancing, from all respect, is dancing, and whatever physical benefit one gains from doing it is just expectable.
If you have no inclination to dance, Shimmy would be hard to learn. It's not your everyday exercise. You have to concentrate while doing it. Kind of kills the fun of getting in shape. Plus you have to have a special attire to do it. The dancers wear a special cloth wrapped around their hips. This supposedly makes one feel and look "sensual" while dancing.
The show obviously employs belly dancers, what with the way they move and the overall attitude they put to the steps. It's kind of intimidating. The lighting, the music, and the setting used in the production focus to eroticism. I call it a dark exercise. It definitely is not for me.
About TVmomma:
I created this blog a few years back when I used to watch television 14 hours a day. I was getting highly-opinionated with what I see on TV and I wanted to spare my husband from my rantings so I thought of blogging about them instead.
I have called TV as my amusement park -- right in my own home. But now, things have changed and my TV viewing has been limited. I still post on this blog but only when I felt so strongly about what I've seen, and when I have the time.
For reprint and for anything else, please leave a message on the comment area. Thank you.
